In the early 19th century, around 1825, Dutch colonialists started planting tea plantations on the Indonesian island of Java. Tea cultivation spread from there to Sumatra.
This loose leaf tea from Java is harvested when it is at its peak, in August and September.
A beautiful dark red leaf that takes on the color of shiny copper in the cup and gives a fruity aromatic flavor that is also reflected in the bouquet.
