Chili de arbol are small and thin Mexican peppers that grow 5-8 cm in length and about a centimeter in width. When they are ripe, they are red in color.
Chile de arbol means "chili tree" in Spanish, a name it got because of its woody stems. This chili is also known as Bird's beak chile and Rats' tail chile.

Arbol chili has slightly smoky and earthy note and a sharp spiciness.
PURCHASE AND STORAGE
Chili de Árbol hot peppers are sold fresh, dried or powdered. Store them in a closed container in a dark place or in the fridge to preserve their flavor.
USE IN COOKING
Dried whole peppers are often used to make wreaths called "ristre" because they retain their color when dried.
These peppers are believed to be derived from cayenne pepper and can be used in cooking as a substitute for them or as a substitute for Pequin hot peppers. They are very hot, so we recommend that you take protective measures when cooking with them.
Chili de Árbol can be used in any dish where spiciness is required, especially in various chilies, salsas and hot sauces. Usually only a couple of peppers are needed in the pot to achieve a fair spiciness.
